Aimi MacDonald Pop Art
Born in Glasgow, MacDonald became a household name when she starred in “At Last the 1948 Show”, the 1967 satirical comedy show co-starring Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graham Chapman, Marty Feldman, & John Cleese.
In the show, Aimi spoke the phrase “And now for something completely different” which later became associated with “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”.
Aimi appeared in “The Avengers” episode “Return of the Cybernauts” with Patrick Macnee, Diana Rigg, Peter Cushing, & Fulton Mackay; “Vendetta for The Saint” with Roger Moore & Ian Hendry; “Shirley’s World” with John Gregson; “Dixon of Dock Green” with Jack Warner; “Mike & Bernie’s Show” with Sid James; and “Rentaghost” with Molly Weir.
MacDonald’s films include the spy spoof “No.1 of the Secret Service” with Richard Todd; the “Man About the House” film with Yootha Joyce & Michael Robbins; the saucy Seventies caper “Keep it Up Downstairs” with Diana Dors; and “Vampira” with David Niven & Kenneth Cranham.
Aimi’s personality saw her become a frequent guest as herself on specials, chat, panel, & game shows, including “Whodunnit?” with Patrick Mower & Anouska Hempel; “Blankety Blank”; “Celebrity Squares” with Bob Monkhouse; “It’s Cliff Richard“; “Give Us a Clue” with Una Stubbs; “The Ronnie Corbett Special”; and “Star Games” with Lewis Collins & Jenny Hanley.
Aimi MacDonald was one of the guests at the Celebration of 60s & 70s TV at Elstree Studios in 2017 along with guest of honour Dame Diana Rigg, and David Prowse, Derek Fowlds, Peggy Cummins, & Valerie Leon.
