Fulton Mackay Pop Art
Born in Paisley, Fulton Mackay was a mainstay of British television.
Whilst he may be remembered by most for “Porridge” with Ronnie Barker, Fulton Mackay was a prolific actor who appeared in many films and TV shows.
Fulton’s film credits include “The Brave Don’t Cry” with John Gregson; “Local Hero” with Alex Norton; “Defense of the Realm” with Ian Bennen & Bill Paterson; “Nothing but the Night” with Christopher Lee & Diana Dors; “Gumshoe” with Wendy Richard; “Water” with Michael Caine & Ruby Wax; and “Britannia Hospital” with Leonard Rossiter.
TV appearances included three episodes of “The Avengers” (including “Return of the Cybernauts” with Aimi MacDonald), “Doctor Who”, “Special Branch”, “Vendetta for The Saint” with Roger Moore, & Ian Hendry, “Coronation Street“, “Emergency-Ward 10”, “Dr Finlay’s Casebook”, “Z Cars”, the Captain in “Fraggle Rock”, “Dad’s Army” with John Laurie, and of course “Porridge” with Ronnie Barker.
An official collaboration with Studiocanal, this print is part of the Scottish Cinema pop art collection, featuring Art & Hue’s signature halftone style (halftone is an age-old technique that uses dots to make up the printed image, similar to newspapers or comic books).
