Stylish pop art print of Patricia Dainton.

Born in Hamilton, Patricia Dainton’s femme fatale looks catapulted the 19 year old Scottish beauty to the leading role in the 1950 musical “The Dancing Years” based on the long-running successful stage show by Ivor Novello.

After several uncredited appearances in films, including “Dancing with Crime” with Richard Attenborough, Dainton’s first main film role was in “The Dancing Years” with Dennis Price. Opening at London’s Carlton cinema on the 5th of April 1950, the film was billed as Patricia’s dancing & acting debut.

Films that followed include “Castle in the Air” with Margaret Rutherford & Gordon Jackson, “Bombay Waterfront” aka “Paul Temple Returns” with Christopher Lee, “Tread Softly” with John Laurie, “Operation Diplomat”, “No Road Back” with Sean Connery, “The Passionate Stranger” with Diane Cilento, “At the Stroke of Nine” with Clifford Evans, “Witness in the Dark” with Richard O’Sullivan, “The House in Marsh Road”, and “The Third Alibi” with Cleo Laine.

Dainton’s television credits include the first ever serial on British TV, and the first daily soap opera, called “Sixpenny Corner” which ran for around 180 (lost) episodes of 15 minutes over the course of a year in 1955 & 1956.

An official collaboration with Studiocanal, this print is part of the Scottish Cinema pop art collection, featuring Art & Hue’s signature halftone style (halftone is an age-old technique that uses dots to make up the printed image, similar to newspapers or comic books).

Patricia Dainton also features on the Scottish Film Map pop art print.
