For British Black History Month, Art & Hue celebrates groundbreaking women with stylish illustrated pop art prints to mark 55 years since the first Black actress in a Bond film.

Grace Jones
Roger Moore’s final Bond film saw Grace Jones take control in “A View to a Kill”. A powerful screen presence, May Day’s beauty and fierceness was a stand-out character in the film and in Bond history.

Following a record deal with Island Records in 1977, Grace released many tracks that have become enduring classics, from “Pull up to the Bumper” and “Slave to the Rhythm” to name just a couple.

Born in Jamaica, Grace Jones moved to New York to begin her modelling career, mixing it up at Studio 54 with Warhol, before relocating to Paris.

With a film career alongside music, Grace appeared in “Conan the Destroyer” with Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Straight to Hell” with Kathy Burke, & “Freddie as F.R.0.7” with Jenny Agutter, as well as her iconic performance in “A View to a Kill” with Roger Moore & Patrick Macnee.
