Celebrating the British anniversary of The New Avengers’ first episode.
Guest-starring Peter Cushing, the show introduced us to Purdey & Gambit as the newest agents working alongside Steed.
The episode went on to air on the Thames channel on the 19th ahead of other ITV networks on the 22nd, scheduling that the producer Brian Clemens wasn’t very happy about as he, presumably, would have preferred the episodes aired across all ITV networks on the same day.
Giving HTV audiences the privilege to see the show first when it premiered on the 17th of October 1976, it was a pleasure to discover Joanna Lumley as Purdey & Gareth Hunt as Mike Gambit alongside the return of Patrick Macnee as John Steed in The New Avengers.
