2026 marks 115 years since Las Vegas was incorporated, 95 years since Nevada legalised gambling, and 85 years of the first themed casino resort on what’s now known as the Las Vegas Strip.

To mark the Las Vegas anniversaries, Art & Hue presents Las Vegas Headliners, a collection of stylish pop art prints featuring celebrated entertainers who’ve starred at the resort over the years.

Art & Hue’s fan letter to iconic performers, British artists Elton John, Rod Stewart, & Thomas Woodward join American acts Liberace, Lola Falana, Judy Garland, Manilow, Bette Midler, Cherilyn, the King of Rock & Roll, Nat King Cole, Fischbacher & Horn, and of course the rat pack of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., & Dean Martin.

Founded in 1905, Las Vegas became an incorporated city on the 1st of June 1911. On the 19th of March 1931, Nevada officially legalised gambling in the hope of drawing visitors to the state. The very next day, on the 20th, the first gambling license was issued to Mayme Stocker at the Northern Club on Fremont Street in Las Vegas.

On the 5th of May 1931, the county issued a license to the Pair-O-Dice nightclub, the first gambling venue on what’s now known as the Strip.

85 years ago, El Rancho Vegas was the first casino-resort to open on the Strip, with approximately 60 guest rooms, on the 3rd of April 1941. Over the past 85 years, Las Vegas has become world-famous as a gambling resort, now with approximately 150,000 hotel rooms, 65,000 of which are on the Strip, where huge names headline shows and act as a draw.
