Upcoming changes for shipping to USA

New rules on shipping items to the U.S.A. come into force from the 29th of August, following an Executive Order signed on the 30th of July.
See more information below but, whilst details are currently thin on the ground, the upshot is that American customers, or customers ordering gifts to be shipped to the USA, should order ASAP to arrive before the 29th after which the new tariff rules may apply.
CHANGES FOR SHIPPING TO U.S.A.
All items, regardless of value, will need to pay U.S. customs tariffs at the point of ordering. All being well, will be able to implement the scheme on the website with minimum interruption on the 29th, but at this stage there aren’t any published details of the customs percentage or where or how to remit collected tariffs to the U.S. government.
Royal Mail has announced they’ll be making changes to ordering postage to the USA soon so hopefully all become clearer as we approach the 29th, but there may be a transition period after the 29th where shipping to the USA is unavailable until there is more clarity.
Right now, the upcoming tariff rules are vague so shipping to the USA may have to be paused before the 29th until details are published on customs rates and U.S. government-approved shipping methods. Shipping may need to change from the current method of Royal Mail & USPS to an alternative courier which may increase delivery charges.
In the meantime, recommend that American customers, or customers ordering gifts to be shipped to the USA, should do so well in advance to arrive before the 29th after which the new rules will apply and may cause delays whilst they’re implemented at the website and at U.S. customs control points.
This page will be updated as we learn more. This information is based on available guidance as of the 14th of August 2025. Shipping and customs rules may change with minimal notice.
