Actor David McCallum

Sad to read the news that David McCallum has died at the albeit grand age of 90.

Born in Glasgow, David McCallum became world famous as the Russian spy in the long-running series “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”.

Before David McCallum was the agent Illya Kuryakin, he had appeared in many British films including “The Long & the Short & the Tall”, “Ill Met by Moonlight”, “These Dangerous Years”, also known as “Dangerous Youth”, “The Secret Place”, “A Night To Remember”, “Violent Playground”, “The Great Escape”, and “Hell Drivers” with an all-star cast including Stanley Baker, Peggy Cummins, Herbert Lom, Patrick McGoohan, Sid James, Gordon Jackson, William Hartnell, and Sean Connery.

Later credits include the cult show “Sapphire & Steel” with Joanna Lumley, “Mother Love” with Diana Rigg, and “NCIS” as Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard.

Robert Vaughn & David McCallum returned to the world of espionage in 1983 with the television film “Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The Fifteen-Years-Later Affair”.

From classic films to cult TV, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. to Sapphire & Steel, and more, David was a part of many people’s childhoods and his enduring work will be cherished.
