The iconic actress Una Stubbs has been a constant thread in British film and TV for many years, from musicals to sit-coms and game shows to dramas.
As part of an unofficial repertory company along with Richard O’Sullivan and Melvyn Hayes, Una appeared in two of Cliff Richard’s film musicals, “Summer Holiday” & “Wonderful Life”.
She also appeared in the films “The Bargee” with Ronnie Barker and “Three Hats for Lisa” with Sid James.
On television, Una was a key cast member in the Alf Garnett sit-coms “Till Death Us Do Part”, “Till Death…”, and “In Sickness and in Health”, and was the memorable Aunt Sally in “Worzel Gummidge” with Jon Pertwee, Barbara Windsor, and Bernard Cribbins.
With many other TV appearances, including “Fawlty Towers” with John Cleese, “The Durrells”, and “Eastenders”, Una secured a new generation of fans with her Mrs Hudson in “Sherlock” starring Wanda Ventham‘s son Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
