Wicket-keeper Pop Art
Richard Pilling was one of the best wicket-keepers in English cricket, and rated by Wisden as one of the best wicket-keepers in the world.
During his first-class cricket career at Lancashire, Pilling took 459 catches and stumped 208 men. A contemporary teammate of W.G. Grace, Pilling went on two tours to Australia during the eight times he played for England.
An all-round sportsman, Pilling’s career was cut short by illness contracted during a football match.
