Martin Landau & Barbara Bain
Whilst not strictly a comedy, there were comedic elements to the “Mission: Impossible” television show, from the invented foreign languages to look and sound vaguely Eastern European, to the concept of rubber masks, and many of the missions can be considered capers.
A real-life married couple at the time, Martin Landau & Barbara Bain starred as Rollin Hand and Cinnamon Carter in “Mission: Impossible” in the first three series, and would go on to star together in “Space: 1999” as John Koenig and Helena Russell.
Barbara Bain also appeared in “Get Smart” with Barbara Feldon and “Moonlighting” with Cybil Shepherd, whilst Martin Landau starred in Hitchcock‘s “North By Northwest” with Cary Grant, “Cleopatra” with Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and Richard O’Sullivan, “The X Files”, “Entourage”, “Matt Houston” with Pamela Hensley, and “Ed Woods” which won him an Oscar.
“Mission: Impossible” is available to view on iTunes, as well as a DVD Box-set at Amazon.
